Designing Sistas (DS) is the magazine that highlights Black women in the arts and design worldwide. Published quarterly (with biannual special issues), DS features women in various areas of the arts – music, theater, literature, dance, media, film, visual art and so forth. The women featured in our pages are women who are giving to their communities through their crafts. We call them extraordinary. Designing Sistas is expanding. We seek to address the whole person so as DS continues to show Black women in healthy and creative roles, DS is also speaking to challenges that Black women face – legally, financially, educationally and otherwise. DS also addresses the relationship that we, as Black women, have with ourselves and others. What’s more, DS is offering resources and solutions that supports women along life’s journeys and encourages women to progress and learn through challenges. DS also provides key information on developing into our best selves from any age. DS speaks life! An Offering of Light
Designing Sistas Magazine focuses on extraordinary women just like you! We look to women in our communities who develop their greatness and then share it with others. We look at the ways those women help to guide communities and how they aim to inspire wholeness with their gifting. They offer us a light; DS reflects that light. We seek to help to uncover the light in all Black women worldwide.
These are women who live next door to us. They invite us in and make us feel at home as they share the best part of themselves what's more (and even better) is that they give us an opportunity to develop our own greatness. We are grateful for them. We are grateful for you and so glad that you are here.
Side Note: DS aims to help set girls on a path to personal success. Contact us so that we can share DS with your local high schools. We can spread the light together!
